INGREDIENTS

For the pizza bread base:

  • 2.5 to 3 cups all purpose flour/maida
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoon dry yeast
  • ¼ tsp sugar or ¼ tsp honey
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Olive oil for brushing
  • Flour, cornmeal or semolina for sprinkling

For the tomato sauce:

  • 4-5 tomatoes
  • 2-3 garlic
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp red wine (optional)
  • 2 tsp dried basil or 2 tbsp fresh basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano or 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • Freshly crushed or ground black pepper
  • Salt

Toppings for 2 medium sized pizzas:

  • 1/2 onion, sliced
  • 1 capsicum/bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 8-9 pitted black olives, sliced [optional]
  • 1 cucumber, washed & sliced
  • 1 cup chopped broccoli
  • Grated mozarella cheese as required
  • Fresh or dried herbs
